New Year, New Feat!

Coming up to the new year (2023), I have had to think about where my priorities lay with the work I’m doing day and night. In case you didn’t know, I have been very busy working on two different entities while working at PureGym as a software engineer. The first entity is more well-known to be Outdoor Technica. The purpose of Outdoor Technica has been to facilitate my creative avenues of content creation and web design. Outdoor Technica currently has a blog website, a YouTube channel, some social media accounts and the odd podcast. Neither of these is doing overtly well because it is a one-man band. Outdoor Technica is also a business-to-business provider of web services which is doing ok. There hasn’t been much effort to get more clients however there is some passive and active income from the services provided which keeps for some expenses but not enough for any profit.

The other entity which has been doing pretty well although more dormant since mid-year has been Barney Mcgrew. This is an interesting company that was created for the purpose of providing solutions in the shooting community. There are currently two projects which are active in Barney Mcgrew and being worked on in their own time. One is a stop plate for IPSC Action Air which provides a timer for competition use. The other is an app which provides an educational avenue to learn everything you need to know about IPSC and the rules. I’m happy to say both projects are in a good place and do not need any urgent work, however, I plan to do more work on the app to try and monetise it.

SO WHAT AM I DOING FOR THE NEW YEAR?

Well, it’s time to cut my losses and start working on something new!

First thing’s first, Outdoor Technica is going to take a back foot and focus on only being a business-to-business entity. This means the website, social media and YouTube would take a back seat and not have any new content. This means my creative avenues are a little muted. Fortunately, that won’t be the case this year. I plan to revive themockachino.com with new content and a more personal touch to my creative efforts alongside my personal social media channels and YouTube. Although it seems like I’m replacing one thing for another, I’m swapping out a professional form of media for a personal outlet with no obligations. I may have also started supporting another content creator in the meantime.

Barney Mcgrew is currently a focus that I am also looking at placing efforts in. Especially regarding the Practical Shooter App. However, that will be talked about in a future post.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
